Did Travis Kelce Actually Wear a Taylor Swift-Inspired Outfit Leaving the Chiefs Game?
Well, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift certainly gave us something to talk about when the singer appeared front and center at the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bear on Sunday. Not only was Swift seen cheering and chatting with Kelce's mother, Donna Kelce, throughout the game, but the rumored pair also left together, each wearing an outfit that caught many fans' eyes.
While the 33-year-old singer opted to wear her red and white Chiefs New Era Cap windbreaker tied around her waist, Kelce, also 33, was seen wearing a matching blue and white denim jacket and pants combo. The pair's grand exit from the game was captured by Chicago-based sports anchor Jarrett Payton.
"Talk about being at the right place at the right time!" wrote Payton, sharing the short clip on the platform formerly known as Twitter. "Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce leaving Arrowhead together after the game."
Though Kelce's two-piece outfit isn't official Swift merch, the set is sold by KidSuper as part of the streetwear clothing brand's 2023 Fall/Winter Menswear collection designed by founder Colm Dillane. The name of both the jacket and the pants, which retail for $295 and $285 respectively, are named "1989 BEDROOM PAINTING SET" as an ostensible nod to Swift's 2014 album 1989.
The timing is also not-coincidental, as Swift announced last month at the final stop of the first leg of her Eras tour in Los Angeles that she's releasing a re-recording of the album, 1989 (Taylor's Version), on October 27, exactly nine years after the original. Many fans ran with this, claiming Kelce purposely delivered a classic Swift Easter egg with his outfit choice.
However, according to TMZ, the website only added "1989" to the item descriptions amid the media blitz surrounding the rumored new couple. In various listings on other retail websites, the name of the set appears simply as "BEDROOM PAINTING" or some variation without the nod to Swift's album.
At any rate, Swift's appearance at Sunday's game brought to fruition weeks of rumors that started when Kelce first admitted to attempting to shoot his shot over the summer while attending the Kansas City stop of her Eras tour. Ahead of the game, he also teased that Swift might make an appearance.
"I threw it out there, I threw the ball in her court," Kelce said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show last Thursday. "I said, ‘I've seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead, and see which one's a little more lit.’ So, we’ll see what happens in the near future."
Following the game, a source confirmed to People that Kelce had invited Swift to the game. "Taylor is very focused on work right now and hanging out with her girlfriends," the source explained. "Travis invited her to the game, and of course she said 'yes.' She just thought it was a fantastic way to spend Sunday."
