'She could die': Demi Lovato may leave hospital this week, but loved ones urge her to go to rehab
As Demi Lovato possibly prepares to leave the hospital this week after her traumatic overdose, some close to the singer say that if she doesn’t go to rehab, they’ll be through with her.
It’s impossible to make another person go to rehab or live a sober life, but many of those close to Lovato are urging the “Sober” singer to seek help after her overdose on July 24. While Lovato is now in stable condition, a source told TMZ that she was close to dying, and that some people who work with her will sever ties with her if she does not seek treatment.
Phil McIntyre, Lovato’s longtime manager who participated in a recent intervention, allegedly parted ways with her after she relapsed after six years of sobriety and declined to get help.
The 25-year-old’s team has been so concerned about her that they want her to go to a residential facility for extended treatment, as opposed to outpatient rehab.
Demi, who initially refused treatment, spent eight days in the hospital dealing with complications from her overdose.
Lovato’s family released a statement in July following her hospitalization. “Demi is awake and with her family, who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now,” the statement read.
