Diplo Gives Incredibly Personal Response When Discussing Dating Life
The DJ and music producer discussed his sexuality on the latest episode of Emily Ratajkowski's 'High Low' podcast.
Diplo isn't afraid to talk about his fluid sexuality.
While appearing on Emily Ratajkowski's "High Low with EmRata" podcast this week, the DJ and music producer admitted that his sexual orientation doesn't necessarily fit into one particular box.
"We should talk about what you said to me last night, which is that you're a little gay," Ratajkowski, 31, recalled to Diplo during the March 14 podcast episode—but his explanation was far from a simple confirmation or denial.
The 44-year-old music artist instead insisted that he "isn't aroused by men that much," although, there are a "couple of guys" he could see himself dating "life partner-wise."
He also shared that he has received oral sex from a man before, telling EmRata, "For sure. 100 percent, yeah," although he didn't have any clear memories of the experience.
Diplo—whose full name is Thomas Wesley—noted that the societal acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community was much different when he was growing up.
"You had gay kids at school and gay cousins or whatever, but it was different than it is now," he stated. "I thought it was like, weird, to be gay."
However, cultural shifts have helped him change his perspective, now calling himself "more of a vibe guy," rather than someone who is set on gender and labels.
"I don't wanna define that I'm gay," he said. "The best answer I have is I'm not not gay."
Instead of trying to find a clear-cut definition of his sexuality, Diplo is perfectly okay with being "fluid," which Ratajkowski, who self-identifies as bisexual, appeared to be in full support of.
"I think that's exciting. You should be happy," the model and actress said to her guest star. "I could just be talking to you only about your relationships to women."
"I like that you're a little flexible," she added.
