If you like to run and enjoy all things Disney, you’re in luck — Disneyland will be home to a new Halloween-themed half marathon in 2024, Disney announced Monday.

The Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend will take place Sept. 5–8, 2024. If half marathons aren’t your speed, you can register for several other races and activities, including a 5K, a 10K, kids races or yoga.

Although the official routes of the races have not yet been released, Disney’s announcement says that runners will wind their way through both Disneyland and California Adventure, as well as the surrounding area. Disney characters and Halloween-themed entertainment will be present along the track.

What is runDisney?

Disney has been hosting races at its theme parks since 1994, when the Walt Disney World Marathon debuted, per Forbes. Since then, Disney has created the runDisney program, which puts on several races in Disney parks per year.

The races each have a different theme and include pre- and post-race entertainment. Previous races have included Disneyland’s Star Wars Half Marathon, Disney World’s Princess Half Marathon and Disneyland Paris’s half marathon, per Forbes.

Disney cancelled all races in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and introduced several virtual events to allow runners to participate while the parks were shut down.

Disney reintroduced several races with health and safety measures at Disney World in 2021 and announced in 2022 that in-person races would return to Disneyland in 2024.

When can I register for runDisney 2024?

And how much are runDisney tickets?

runDisney is hosting two Disneyland events in 2024: the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend from Jan. 11–14 and the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend from Sept. 5–8. Tickets have sold out for the January races, but registration for the Halloween races opens Feb. 13, 2024.

Ticket prices vary based on the time of year, the length of the race and the date of registration, but tickets for runDisney 5Ks start at $107.99 and the half marathons at $218.99.

A series of runDisney virtual races are still available in 2024 for those who would like to participate in the races from home. The virtual races allow runners to choose their own courses, and attendees receive several commemorative items by mail. Tickets for virtual events also vary but start at $80.

More information about registration for all 2024 races will be available on the runDisney website.
