Disney Donates $1 Million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Wake of ‘Black Panther’ Success

Black Panther’s enormous box office success (hello, $700 million and counting) put Disney in the giving mood.

Yesterday, the studio announced its plans to donate $1 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to help expand STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs in areas of need.

Robert Iger, chairman and chief executive officer of the Walt Disney Company said, “It is thrilling to see how inspired young audiences were by the spectacular technology in [Black Panther], so it’s fitting that we show our appreciation by helping advance STEM programs for youth, especially in underserved areas of the country, to give them the knowledge and tools to build the future they want.”

The Black Panther grant money will help BGCA build STEM Centers of Innovations in underprivileged areas across America where children can access cutting-edge technology and training.

Bravo to you, Disney, for making it a small better world after all.
