Disney Just Released the First Trailer for 'The Lion King' Live-Action Remake
The teaser trailer for Disney's upcoming remake of The Lion King has landed, and it is so ridiculously good.
The first look at the anticipated release gives us a glimpse of the classic moment Simba (played by Donald Glover) is introduced to the Kingdom by Rafiki (John Kani). It's narrated by James Earl Jones, who is reprising his 1994 role of Mufasa for the film, and begins: "Everything the light touches is our kingdom. But a king’s time as ruler rises and falls like the sun."
Fans of the original (who isn't?) are guaranteed to get goosebumps, and Twitter went crazy with reactions the minute Disney Studios put out their video.
Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King's has signed up an incredible cast, including actual Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, while JD McCrary voices Young Simba.
Elton John will also return to remaster music from the original film along with collaborator Tim Rice.
Speaking earlier this year, he revealed: "They need to have a new end credits song.
"There's going to be four of our songs in the film, from the original: 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight', 'Hakuna Matata', 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King' and 'Circle of Life'.
"And then there will be an end, closing song, and we've been speaking to Beyoncé's people and hopefully Tim and I and her can cook up something."
Okay Elton!
The next few years are set to be huge for Disney, with many of their most talked-about new releases all coming around the same time.
Mary Poppins Returns comes next month, while Dumbo, Aladdin, Toy Story 4 and The Lion King will all be released in summer 2019, followed by Frozen 2 next winter.
