Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines jokes about breast reduction surgery in sexy bikini photo
Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines isn’t shy, so her latest Instagram post — a bikini-clad joke about the size of her breasts — isn’t surprising.
On Tuesday, Maines posted a photo of herself lying down while wearing a colorful striped bikini. “What do you guys think of my breast reduction?” she captioned the photo, now with nearly 1,400 likes, adding a winking emoticon.

While the 42-year-old was clearly making a play on the fact that, when lying down, women’s breasts tend to flatten out and fall to the side (thanks, gravity!), fans seized the opportunity to remind her that she’s beautiful as is. Others commiserated about how breastfeeding changed the size of their own breasts (Maines has two teenage sons), and one joked, “We must have the same surgeon!”
Sarcasm, as well as controversy, is nothing new for the country star who once told Rolling Stone that in high school she was “the only cheerleader with a half-shaved head.” Her Grammy-studded career is almost matched by her bold political statements, the most famous of which occurred during a 2003 London concert before the U.S. invaded Iraq. Between songs, Maines proclaimed the band was “ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas,” a statement she later apologized to then-President George Bush for — and then retracted it. While the Dixie Chicks went on to win numerous awards, their fans remain politically divided.
Maines has also publicly supported the West Memphis Three, a group of three men who were released from an Arkansas prison after an 18-year sentence for the 1993 murder of three boys. The case was controversial due to the lack of DNA evidence, and Maines, alongside other celebrities, has rallied for the men, claiming their innocence. Maines even implicated the stepfather of one of the murdered boys, evoking a lawsuit against her that was ultimately dismissed.
Her public slams against conservatives President Donald Trump, country star Toby Keith, Sen. Ted Cruz, and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, and her outspoken stance on gun control, have made Maines a bona fide activist.
The top 10 states w/the strictest gun laws are not on the top 20 states for gun deaths. Suck it NRA fools. Stop preaching your bullshit!

Having just filed for divorce from actor Adrian Pasdar, her husband of 17 years, Maines is clearly going through a type of rebirth. And if that brings out her sense of humor, we’re all for it.
