For most of the year, if you want to crack into a Magnum ice cream bar, you have to hit up your local grocery store, bodega, or ice cream truck. But for a few lucky months during summer, you can get the full ice cream parlor experience - and personalize your own bar while you're there.

Starting June 1, MAGNUM New York - an annual pop-up shop - is coming back to the Big Apple for the summer. This year's outpost is in NYC's SoHo neighborhood, and it's decked out from top to bottom. Gold counters, art-deco wallpaper, and perfectly-lit Instagram booths are indicators that the shop's vibe differs from most create-your-own-ice cream shops. But the real stand out here is the toppings.

After choosing from vanilla or chocolate ice cream and a white, dark, or milk chocolate dip, you get to pick from a whole slew of fancy-shmancy toppings, like Urfa Biber chile flakes, dark chocolate crispy caviar (don't worry, it's not actual fish eggs), dried cherries, and salted caramel coated biscuits. This is the Fashion Week of DIY ice cream, and Magnum is here to please.

New to the menu this year are seven "Lookbook Bars," which will roll out in pairs throughout the summer. These bars look like straight-up works of art, and they mark a Magnum first: They're dipped in colored chocolate, so you can snag a hot pink, sky blue, or light purple bar. They've even got fun names that sound more like nail polish than food - Animal Instinct, Spring/Summer 2018, and Street Art. If choosing from 20 toppings sounds more stressful than fun, you can always snag one of these pre-made options.

The store is located at 132 Spring St. and will stay open every day from June 1 through Labor Day. Make sure to take a good look at the coolest detail: The popsicles hanging at the front of the store are more than just a snap for the 'gram. Designed specifically for the pop-up, each one represents a different aspect of New York City. While you inevitably wait in line, try and figure out what's what. Hint: There's a taxi cab and new-ish skyscraper involved.
