What You'll Need
DIY Wood Bead Snowflake Ornament supplies
48 unfinished wood beads (I used 14mm)
Craft wire (heavy enough to support wood beads—I used 22 gauge crafting wire)
Ribbon
Scissors
Step 1: Make the first loop
Cut 48 inches of wire. Slide 6 beads onto wire, leaving about 6 inches of wire at the end. Then thread the long end of wire through the first bead so you can pull the wires taut.
Step 2: Thread on beads
Next, thread 5 beads onto the long wire. Make longer snowflake points by adding more beads. Try alternating colored beads here for a striped pattern.
Step 3: Loop the end
Next pull the wire through the second top bead. The top bead should be pulled on its side (see image).
Step 4: Finish the arm
Thread 2 more beads and then pull the wire through the bottom bead you added in the previous step (when you added five beads). See image for detail. Pull taut. You have completed your first of six arms of the snowflake!
Step 5: Loop through middle
Now thread the wire through the next bead on the original circle. You will follow steps 2-4 to complete five more arms of the snowflake.
Step 6: Finish the snowflake
Once you have completed the six arms of the snowflake, bring the two end pieces of wire together and pull taut. Wrap the wire together and trim. Add twine or thin ribbon to hang the ornament.
