Does the New Celebrity-Backed Le Domaine Serum Live Up to the Hype?
Here at T&C, we pride ourselves on our discerning eye for quality. With Tried & True, our editors will give you an inside look at the pieces they simply cannot live without.
Back in my 20's and even when I was in college, I was a bonafied product junky. I was constantly testing and swapping serums and elixirs, trying to add a bit more luxury to my daily routine with whatever the viral product dujour was. But now that I've comfortably into my 30's I find that I experiment with skincare a whole lot less. I have my trusted serums and creams that work for me and I see no reason to deviate. As you can imagine, it takes quite a lot to get me interested enough to swap from what I know works. Back in late September, I was lucky enough to be sent the entire three-product range of Brad Pitt and Marc Perrin's new skincare range Le Domaine. Cleanser, Serum and Moisturizer—a Le Domaine Trinity.
I brought them home and assumed that I would probably test for a bit and then just relinquish them to my boyfriend. But that was not to be. I found myself temporarily displaced from my apartment and the only skincare at my boyfriend's house? Le Domaine. This is hardly a sob story, but it is rare that I try an entire skincare range in tandem, let alone revamp my routine.
I used the trio for weeks on end, and comfortably arrived at this conclusion: For all the harping about celebrities and beauty brands, I had to give credit where credit was due; the juice was good. Very good. In particular, I found the Serum to be the star of the pack.
You see, the silky elixir has a high concentration of proprietary GSM10 and ProGR3, two of Le Domaine's exclusive patented active compounds, both boasting some serious clinical results when it comes to reducing oxidative stress and slowing down the signs of skin aging. But unlike many formulations on the market, this silky serum doesn't dry down to be tacky. Your face just feels instantly hydrated and much smoother. It doesn't make you shiny, and makeup applies without so much as a hitch. And at nighttime? Your face won't stick to your pillow! Even with the moisturizer on top.
Of course, that's just the superficial. Those claims about seriously impacting skin tone and texture? They checked out for me. I have chronic rosacea and even at my best, I often get little patches of red—sometimes texture. But about after two weeks of use, I saw a serious difference in the glassy and un-inflamed tone and texture of my skin. I honestly stopped wearing concealer.
Long story short, it's the kind of glow you can get addicted to. And at $385 a pop, that's what you expect. But it's not just the formulation that's good. The packaging isn't just sustainable, it's beautiful too. The kind that is functional, but you still want to keep it out on your vanity. And when you're traveling, there's a separate cap that you can use to be space conscious. Every detail of the brand is thought out, and for me that's cause for endorsement.
These days, I am loathe to share this miraculous little bottle of effective serum—and I'm going almost 2 months strong without running out. Now if I only had a backup for when I inevitably need more.
