Dolly Parton Shares Rare Photo With Her Husband Carl Dean for Valentine's Day
Dolly Parton is a constant topic of conversation — and for many reasons. The 76-year-old country music singer has won Grammys, been a style icon for decades, created delicious food collaborations (with Duncan Hines and Jeni’s Ice Cream, to be exact), and put her wealth to the very best use via a number of philanthropic initiatives. Another reason the “Jolene” singer has made headlines over the years? She’s largely kept her relationship with her husband of more than 55 years, Carl Dean, private from the public eye. One of the few exceptions? On Valentine’s Day, of course!
To celebrate the day of love, Dolly took to Instagram with a rare photo of herself and Carl from way back when. “Happy Valentine’s Day y’all! Remember to squeeze your loved ones a little tighter today and tell them you love ‘em,” she captioned the snap, which showed Carl hugging and kissing her on the cheek.
Given how seldom Dolly shines the spotlight on Carl (because that’s the way the couple prefers it), fans immediately flooded her comments section, with heart emojis, heart-eyed smiley faces, and overall love and adoration for her and Carl.
“He IS real! Tell your Valentine we thank him for sharing you so graciously for many decades,” one fan wrote. “How sweet!! Happy Valentine's Day to you and Carl. Y'all are a great example for all the world,” someone else chimed in. “So glad Jolene wasn't able to steal your man,” another fan joked.
And one fan is so inspired by Dolly and Carl’s love that she actually wrote a song about it. “The sweetest! I wrote a song called Carl Dean and posted a little snippet today—inspired by your love story! Happy Valentines Dolly & Carl,” she commented on Dolly’s post.
