Don Johnson comments on Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin's relationship
Does Don Johnson disapprove of Dakota Johnson’s new relationship? The Fifty Shades Freed star, 28, is dating Chris Martin, 40, and Johnson was asked about his daughter’s budding romance.
“Yeah, that’s … uh, troubling, isn’t it?” he (probably) joked to reporters at Wednesday’s National Television Awards. “No, she’s a big girl. She can handle herself!”
Dakota was first linked to the Coldplay rocker in October 2017. They have been spotted on date nights over the past few months, but seemingly took their relationship public earlier this month. The couple attended Stella McCartney’s Autumn 2018 Collection in Los Angeles.
“They walked in holding hands, and Dakota was not letting go — she was super into the PDA,” an onlooker told People. “When Chris let go of her hand, she slipped her arm through his.”
Melanie Griffith has yet to weigh in on her daughter’s new boyfriend, but joking aside, Chris Martin got off pretty easy here.
When Lionel Richie was asked about his 19-year-old daughter, Sofia, dating Scott Disick, 34, he said he was “scared to death.”
“Have I been in shock?! I’m the dad, come on,” Richie told Us Weekly. “I’m scared to death, are you kidding me?” And in a different interview with E!, Lionel playfully made a hand gesture that looked like a gun pointing at his head when asked about the Keeping Up With the Kardashians bad boy.
“I am into her business, and she’s trying to keep me out of her business,” he said. “The fact is, I don’t know, how can you sneak when everything is on Instagram?”
When Sofia was dating Justin Bieber, her famous father wouldn’t comment on that relationship … unlike Selena Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefey.
Gomez and Bieber have been back together for about three months, and multiple reports have claimed the reunion isn’t sitting well with her family. Teefey even commented to Gossip Cop she’s “not happy” about it, but acknowledged, “Selena can live her life however she wants, as long as she is happy, safe, and healthy.” Bieber is apparently working to show Gomez’s loved ones that he has matured.
So ya, all in all, should consider yourself lucky, Chris Martin!
