Don Tequila's fifth Columbus-area Mexican restaurant opening soon on Bethel Road

A former Texas Roadhouse on the Northwest Side will come back to life Wednesday with a look and a menu from south of the border.

Don Tequila, a Columbus restaurant group that since 2016 has opened in Powell, Northland, Dublin and Upper Arlington, has redone the former steakhouse at 1540 Bethel Road with an open ceiling, murals on the walls, lacquered white and black tiles and furniture imported from Mexico.

Botanos camarones kora, one of the dishes at Don Tequila, is shrimp in a mild chili sauce. Don Tequila specializes in food from the Mexican states of Jalisco and Guanajuato.

Its menu highlights dishes from Jalisco and Guanajuato, states in western and central Mexico, which include botanos camarones kora (shrimp in a mild chili sauce), filete rey (an 8-ounce filet mignon topped with cherry tomatoes and served with potatoes) and enchiladas verde.

Don Tequila also serves popular Tex-Mex fare such as quesabirria tacos, fajitas and burritos, and the restaurant offers margaritas by the glass (medium or jumbo) or the pitcher (small or large).

The restaurant will open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.

Another Don Tequila is scheduled to open in April 2025 on the Northeast Side, near Hamilton Road and state Route 161.
