Trump kicks off London visit by calling mayor 'a stone-cold loser' — after making 'nasty' jab at Meghan Markle
Despite the objections of many Brits — who are expected to protest at Trafalgar Square on Tuesday — Donald Trump’s visit to London is carrying on as planned.
The president and first lady Melania Trump landed at London’s Stansted Airport on Monday morning, and will spend the day meeting Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace, with a state banquet scheduled for the evening.
But the visit is already off to a dramatic start, thanks to statements made by POTUS. When asked by Britain’s The Sun about critical comments made in 2016 by Meghan Markle — who is skipping out on his visit due to her maternity leave — about his presidential run, Trump responded “I didn’t know that she was nasty.” He did go on to call Meghan a “very good” addition to the royal family.
Trump later tweeted a denial of the “nasty” comment, despite the exact quote being recorded.

While Trump looks to be walking back his remarks about Meghan — whose husband, Prince Harry, is expected to take part in this week’s events, though he isn’t listed on the official state visit schedule — he didn’t hold back when blasting London Mayor Sadiq Khan in two tweets posted just as he was landing in London.
Khan has been a vocal critic of Trump, and on Sunday posted a video calling out his policies “abhorrent.” Trump responded by calling Khan “nasty” and a “stone-cold loser.” He also took a jab at the mayor’s height.
....Kahn reminds me very much of our very dumb and incompetent Mayor of NYC, de Blasio, who has also done a terrible job - only half his height. In any event, I look forward to being a great friend to the United Kingdom, and am looking very much forward to my visit. Landing now!

Khan may have the last laugh, however. The Times of London reports that he has approved plans allowing protesters to launch the Trump baby blimp over Westminster as they did during the president’s U.K. visit last summer.
Meanwhile, critics of the president are decrying his statements — with some even calling on Meghan to lob a milkshake at him, a nod to the recent attack on Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage.
