'I don't wash my hair every day': Debra Messing spills her beauty secrets
Debra Messing’s confidence is at an all-time high since she celebrated her 50th birthday.
The actor, speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle as part of her new campaign as the face of Colgate Optic White, says her relationship with her son, and knowing that her morals and beliefs hold value, build up her confidence.
“Knowing that I have a strong point of view and trusting that there is value in that [gives me confidence],” she says, adding that “being a functioning single mother who works full time who has a special relationship with her son,” along with creating a balanced life, is fulfilling. “That feels like an accomplishment to me, and that makes me feel strong.”
The Will & Grace star says that a great smile doesn’t hurt. “A white smile makes your skin brighter and gives a youthful look,” she says.
Confidence and a beautiful grin pair well with something else Messing is known for: her iconic red hair. “I think my smile and my hair are the two things that I think people associate with me,” she admits, noting that she has been loyal to the same colorist for 20 years and that she’s tried every possible shade of red.
Her trick to maintaining its vibrancy? Seeing her stylist every six to eight weeks and staying away from hot styling tools when she’s not filming or on a red carpet. Messing also says that washing her hair as little as possible helps too. “I don’t wash my hair every day,” she explains. “I probably wash it every third day!”
