'Doubling Down With the Derricos' Karen Shares Behind-the-Scenes Look at Kids' Hybrid School Life
Doubling Down With the Derricos star Karen Derrico recently offered a behind-the-scenes look at her kids' school life. And in doing so, she revealed they have a hybrid schedule that's partially at a school building and at home.
On Saturday, Aug. 24, the mom of 14 took to Instagram with a montage featuring photos and a video clip of some of her children.
"Week 2 of school is done! ????Whew hew!!!!" Karen captioned her update. "Each week I’m tweaking, constantly figuring out what works and doesn’t work! It takes about 6 weeks to really get you and your children with a good rhythm so I’m not beating myself up too badly! ??."
In the Instagram post, Karen included pictures of her kids sitting at a table working on laptops and worksheets. One shot showed her and her ex-husband Deon's youngest children using a bench as a table while sitting on the ground. A final clip featured one of their daughters seemingly rejoicing over her score on a computer screen as her siblings celebrated too.

The busy mom continued, "Hybrid education for those that don’t know, means your child spends time on the school campus, however all their school work is done at home. Campus day(s) are for additional academic support/ clubs! Anyway, back to preparing for week 3! ??Happy Saturday ????."
In the comments, fans of the TLC family shared their two cents about the Derrico kids' schooling arrangement.
"Great Job as always Mom??????????????," one wrote.
Another shared, "I love how they support each other. You are doing a phenomenal job with them!!!"

Meanwhile, someone else politely asked why the Derricos don't send their children to a traditional or charter public school.
"Well, actually they do attend a public school. It’s a very small teacher to student ratio. In their kindergarten class, it’s only 5 of them. My triplets make up over half of the class!" Karen revealed.
She added, "And they have in the past attended a public school. @deonderrico and I do not want our children in a traditional 5 day a week program, and we are grateful to God that we are able to both be hands on with them. ??."
While responding to a different commenter, Karen also noted that her children "love" their hybrid schedule and "look forward to each week! ??."
