Downtown Las Vegas event brings out custom bicycles and their fans

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A custom bicycle spectacle took over downtown Las Vegas streets Wednesday night, with elaborately designed and lighted bikes rolling out alongside families and riders of all ages.

The regular weekly night ride that takes off from the Crank and Grind design and repair business on Main Street just north of Charleston Boulevard had a little more juice this week. An annual event, Ride OBC (“One Big Club”), added some newcomers. Bike OBC is being hosted April 4-8 at the Downtown Grand Hotel.

You will probably see these bikes on the roads again as the event continues through the weekend.

The weekly ride at Crank and Grind brings out people of all ages. There were a few kids at Wednesday night’s event, but it was mostly adults. The shop was offering $120 bike rentals — including lights — for the entire OBC weekend.

In addition to unusual bike designs, there were bicycle-drawn trailers and lots of audio speakers blaring music.

Registration for OBC 2024 was $99 up until Feb. 14, but it went up to $129 after that. Organizers said registration bags contained exclusive OBC and sponsor merchandise with a value of over $150.
