Downtown New York’s Coolest Store Launches Online Global Marketplace
VFILES is a downtown NYC store, or collective (depending how fashion-savvy you want to be), where cool cult streetwear brands are birthed and where youth culture connects to the established influencers in the world. This is the place where brands such as Hood by Air, Gypsy Sport, Pyrex, and Been Trill all got their start, to give you an idea of the impact it has had on young designers.
Today, VFILES will launch its new global marketplace where contributors and young designers can sell directly on their VFILES profile on the website and on the VFILES app. The goal of this marketplace is to give young designers a platform to sell their products, providing autonomy so they don’t feel the pressure of having to selling to a big department store in order to get their products out in the market. This will give designers control of their product and their inventory and the help of the tools provided by the VFILES platform. With so many of the traditional department stores downsizing their spaces and the fashion calendar and merchandise model changing, VFILES Marketplace could be the model of e-commerce where young designers can sell direct to consumers and have the support to get their brand and voices out there for audiences worldwide.
The first designers to launch with the global marketplace are as follows:
Left Hand LA
Left Hand LA by Julia Kucharski is a DIY, one-of-a-kind fashion line made from repurposed garments. Her patchwork meets thrift-store designs have been worn by Jaden Smith, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Swae Lee, and others.
Lone Star
With Lone Star, Matthew Bickman has created a Texas airport-inspired line of tees, sweatshirts, and beanies.
Seville Michelle
The latest collection by Seville Michelle, “Choke Me,” features religious icons and symbols that emphasize female power and influence. The collection, which was previously available only to celebrities and social media influencers like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Bebe Rexha, and Sofie Richie, will now be available to everyone.
Slashed by Tia
Designer Teni Adeola is a 19-year-old Nigerian studying at the New School. Her line, Slashed by Tia, is inspired by her European upbringing and cultural experiences.
