Dozens participate in 5K fundraiser for Humane Society of Dickson County

DICKSON, Tenn. (WKRN) — At least 100 runners and walkers hit the course early Saturday morning for a good cause at Buckner Park in Dickson.

It was good turnout for the third annual Dog Days of Summer 5K, which benefits the Humane Society of Dickson County. A few cute adoptable canines even got to make the sprint with runners.

There were also plenty of frisky shelter kittens to play with at the fundraiser.

Music, food trucks and pets rounded out the day. One lucky runner won a raffle for a Blackstone grill.

Landon Kuhns took home the honors of first place runner. Meanwhile, Luxe and his handlers — Elizabeth and Tim Swaw — landed in the top spot for first place shelter dog.
