  • Dr. Pimple Popper pops a "boggy" and "wet" ear cyst in her latest Instagram video.

  • The cyst emits a substance that looks like strawberry jam.

  • Dr. Pimple Popper says inflammation sometimes causes a cyst's contents to liquify.

Dr. Pimple Popper (a.k.a. Sandra Lee, MD) doesn’t just share gnarly videos online of herself popping cysts—sometimes she drops some knowledge in the process. That’s exactly what happened in a new Instagram video she shared over the weekend.

“Why you so abscessed with me?” the doctor captioned a video. “When a cyst gets inflamed, the contents liquify and there is increased pain due to inflammation and increased pressure in the area. An I&D needs to be done in this case, aka Incision & Drainage.” That sounds…intense. And also, super clickable, TBH.

Once you click on the video, you see a close-up of a patient’s ear with a greyish lump just below their earlobe. Dr. Pimple Popper says it “feels really boggy…I think it’s going to be wet in here.” OMG.

Then, she takes her trusty scalpel and slices into the abscess. The doctor does one little slice and oil immediately oozes out. Dr. Pimple Popper then uses one finger to gently poke at the cyst and that baby is so loaded that strawberry jelly donut-like gunk immediately starts pouring out. There’s so much in there that the doctor fills up her gauze pad in seconds.

She then goes back for more. “Sometimes when it gets inflamed, the contents break down,” she explains as she squeezes more gunk out. “It’s like your body already tried to get rid of it.”

Whew. There was a lot of nasty stuff in there. You can check out all the action here:

Good luck looking at strawberry donuts again the same way!
