? In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper excises a giant cyst from a patient’s arm that she likens to a hard boiled egg.
? Epidermoid cysts, like the one featured in this video, contain dead skin cells and excess keratin, which are often white in appearance like an egg.
? Dr. Lee also removes the sac wall of the cyst, an important step to prevent the structure from forming again post-surgery.

This pop is not for the faint of heart—or for those with a weak stomach. In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popperaka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—removes an incredibly large epidermoid cyst from a patient’s arm. The cyst, which appears to be only slightly smaller than a baseball, is filled with clumps of dead skin cells and keratin, making for a removal to remember.

“It’s like a hard boiled egg,” Dr. Lee exclaims after the first squeeze. And you will certainly see the resemblance, too.

An epidermoid cyst can occur anywhere a hair follicle is present, arising when dead skin cells move deeper into your skin and collect rather than fall off. These cysts can also form due to irritation or injury to a hair follicle. Aside from aesthetic concerns, epidermoid cysts can often become aggravated and inflamed, making removal an appealing option.

In the procedure, Dr. Lee is seen snipping out the cyst’s sac wall to fully remove the growth’s structure. As she explains to the patient’s family, removal of the sac wall is essential to prevent excess skin cells from collecting again in the same area.

After meticulously removing the contents of the angry cyst, Dr. Lee is ready to stitch up the patient with confidence his hard-boiled friend is gone for good. Guaranteed that any viewer of this video will not look at egg salad the same way again.
