Drew Barrymore, 46, praised for 'aging with grace' in latest photo: ‘I can point to you to show my daughter what real beauty is’
Drew Barrymore looked radiant on the red carpet for the CFDA Fashion Awards on Wednesday night, and fans were quick to take notice.
Wearing a poofy yellow princess-like dress designed by the Christian Siriano, the actress and television host was all smiles as she walked hand in hand with the iconic designer, who was equally as smitten.
“Fashion should make us smile like this!!! Oh the Joy of @drewbarrymore,” Siriano wrote on Instagram, later adding, “Having this woman as a date is beyond! Love you Drew!”
The actress returned the love, writing alongside a quick video as flashing lights circle her, “@csiriano love our dates. Love being in your fantasy dress. Yellow sunshine joy. @chloeiscrazy you are my muse and I live to be yours in any way possible.”
It didn’t take long for her followers to squeal with joy, many of them praising the fact that Barrymore has been aging gracefully over the years.
“You look so pretty,” comedian Amy Sedaris wrote. Carnie Wilson followed up with, “So so beautiful!! The woman you have become blows me away!!”
Alyssa Milano wrote, “I just love you so much.” Writer Patti Smith added, “So pretty.”
“Aging with grace. Beautiful Drew,” one fan wrote.
“I’m grateful that I can point to you to show my daughter what real beauty is!” a commenter added. “No filters needed. No crazy surgeries. REAL! Authentic!! Loving yourself in your real skin. Thank you!”
Of course, the star has never been shy about her views on plastic surgery.
Earlier this year, Barrymore opened up about aging and why she’s chosen never to get surgery on her face, telling Ross Matthews during a segment on The Drew Barrymore Show, “I’ve never done anything to my face and I would like to try not to.”
“I know myself. I’m a highly addictive person. I do one injection, I’m going to look like Jocelyn Wildenstein by Friday,” she noted. “I think because I’m so rebellious that I saw all of that pressure [of getting plastic surgery], and I saw all of those women torturing themselves to look a certain way and I thought, ‘You miserable people.’ I just never wanted to never be afraid of what life would do to me. I probably went to too many opposite extremes. Now I’m boring and safe and healthy.”
“I would love if there was some way we could let go and give in to the ride of life a little bit more,” she said. “We’re going to age, things are going to go south, and it’s OK, it’s a part of life. … I feel more human and more vulnerable every year of my life, but I also know how to appreciate every year more and more too."
Still, Barrymore is leaving her options open. “Never say never,” she quipped.
