I tried this $10 home dry cleaning kit—and here's what happened

Dry cleaning is expensive and time-consuming, but what if there’s a way you could do it all for less — and at home? Enter Amazon’s top-rated Dryel At-Home Dry Cleaner Starter Kit. It has more than 400 reviews and a 4 out of 5-star rating. The $10 kit cleans four loads (up to five garments per load), which totals 20 items. Simply put, this comes out to only 50 cents per dry-cleaned item.
I’m someone who always has the intention to dry clean, but instead of actually going to the cleaners, my “dry cleaning to-do’s” end up piling up for longer than I’d like to admit. And when I finally do make the trip, I grimace at the bill, which can be upwards of $100! So I’m always on the lookout for a way to curb these costs.
So when a friend told me about Dryel, I put it to the test.
I chose one dress, two blouses, one cashmere sweater and one pleated satin skirt for my first load. I was nervous to see how this kit would treat my finer fabrics, but I was willing to take the risk.
How it works
The starter kit comes with one very large, reusable garment bag, four pre-soaked cleaning sheets, and one bottle of Dryel’s stain and odor removing solution.
Step 1
Pre-treat any stains with Dryel’s stain and odor spray bottle.
Step 2
Put everything inside the Dryel garment bag, add one pre-soaked cleaning sheet, and zip up the bag.
Step 3
Put the bag inside your dryer for 15 minutes to refresh or 30 minutes for a deeper clean. Make sure to take your clothes out and hang it immediately after drying to smooth out any wrinkles. And that’s it!
The results
I loved how clean and refreshed my garments smelled and looked when I took them out of the dryer. The entire process was quick and efficient, and produced powerful results.
It’s perfect if you’re looking to do a quick “refresh” on your shirts, suits and dresses that you normally take to the dry cleaner. However, for tough stains, it did not completely remove them. So for those I’ll still continue to take them to the dry cleaner, but much less often.
For everything else, this is a major game-changer, and I definitely recommend it.
Online customers are very impressed with the Dryel kit too. One happy shopper shared, “Threw my suit into a bag with the dryer cleaning pad and 30 minutes later my suit was wrinkle free and smelling awesome, plus it saved me money and a trip to the dry cleaner.”
Customers rave about how convenient, easy and affordable the Dryel kit is. “This product is amazing. I’ve been using this product for years and it has saved hundreds of dollars in dry cleaning bills,” wrote one 5-star reviewer.
The best part? After buying the initial starter kit, you can buy refill packs that clean 60 garments for just $13.
