Now that the fourth season of Stranger Things has premiered, the Duffer Brothers are planning the fifth and final season, which they say will likely include another time jump.

Only six months have passed in the show since since Stranger Things season three, but the reality is that season four took three years to premiere due to delays caused by the pandemic.

As a result, the brothers (the show's co-creators) have said it's likely there will be a time jump in season five now that its stars are all grown up, despite the original plan of filming seasons four and five back to back.

"I'm sure we will do a time jump," Ross told TVLine. "Ideally, we'd have shot [seasons four and five] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. So these are all discussions we're going to have with our writers when we start the room up."

Either way, they want to make sure that they give fans the epic ending they deserve.

"We learn a lot every time we make a [season]," said Matt. "We've learned a lot just working with all of our new actors and the ones that we've worked with for a long time over this year [making season four], so I'm sure it'll change a little bit from that outline.

"The ending is the hard thing," he added. "That's obviously the stressful thing. We really want to stick the landing."

Before we can even think about season five, though, fans can look forward to part two of season four after part one left us with that shocking twist. After all, it sounds as though the final two episodes will be the series' biggest yet.

"Believe it or not, we're still working on season four," said Ross. "We're trying to finish the final two episodes, they're so massive."
