Rock: Two instrumental rock bands will perform at Pappy and Harriet's on Saturday night. The San Diego trio Earthless play an edgy blues rock sound similar to the bands Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Blue Cheer. Most of their songs are instrumental, but some have lyrics.
Local band Yawning Man, which includes Fatso Jetson frontman Mario Lalli and guitarist Gary Arce, plays a combination of rock, electric jazz and world music. The group released a live DVD in 2020 that was recorded at Giant Rock, a seven-story freestanding boulder near Landers in the high desert.
This show was originally scheduled for Jan. 25 and tickets purchased for the previous date will be honored.
Earthless and Yawning Man: 9 p.m. Saturday, Pappy and Harriet's Pioneertown Palace, 53-688 Pioneertown Road, Pioneertown. $30. (760) 228-2222. pappyandharriets.com

Comedy: It's hard to believe Jay Leno filmed his last episode of "The Tonight Show" eight years ago. There were plenty of memorable moments of his 21-year run, such as Howard Stern's 1995 appearance with two bikini clad models performing the "first lesbian kiss" in the show's history, and returning to the air a week after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York. In 2003, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared on the show to confirm his candidacy California gubernatorial recall election against then-Gov. Gray Davis.
Leno has continued to perform as a stand-up comic since he left "The Tonight Show" in 2014. He'll perform two shows at the McCallum Theater on Sunday.
Jay Leno: 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday, McCallum Theatre, 73-000 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert. $65 to $95. (760) 340-2787. mccallumtheatre.com
