How to Make an Easy Artificial Evergreen Wreath for Christmas
Evergreen wreaths are a classic holiday decorations and hanging one on your front door, above your fireplace or even on your garage door can set the tone for the Christmas season. This simple how-to project will allow you to create your own evergreen wreath using a basic grapevine wreath as the base. Customize to fit your needs by adjusting the size of the base wreath or the color of your decorative accents. Faux mixed pine sprays with attached pinecones and berries

12-inch grapevine wreath

1-3/4 yards of 2-1/2-inch-wide wire-edge plaid ribbon
Florist's wire

How to Make an Evergreen Wreath
We used artificial boughs to make our wreath so we could enjoy it year after year, but you could substitute real greenery for the faux elements if you love the look (and smell) more. Visit a Christmas tree lot to see if they have free or low-cost tree boughs you can use to save yourself some money on the project too!
Starting with your bare grapevine wreath as a foundation, start arranging the artificial pine boughs as shown in the photo above. Use wire snips to trim the stems of the mixed pine sprays with pinecones and berries if necessary, then hot-glue the sprays to the grapevine wreath, evenly spacing them and letting the greenery fall in a clockwise direction.
Fill in bare spots on the grapevine wreath by hot-gluing additional mixed pine sprays to the wreath, trimming the sprays as necessary. Let the greenery fall in a clockwise direction. Continue adding the faux mixed pine sprays until the wreath looks full and lush.
Use hot glue to attached the faux angel pine sprays and artificial red berry stems to the wreath. Continue working in a clockwise direction, filling in gaps and adding texture until you're happy with the look.
To make the wreath bow, cut a 40-inch length of red plaid ribbon. Leaving a 10-inch tail, make a 5-inch loop, holding the ribbon between your thumb and index finger. Continue holding the ribbon, and make a second loop the same size in the opposite direction. Make another loop the same size in the same direction as the original loop. Wrap wire around the bow center, not trimming the wire ends. For the remaining bow tails, wire the remaining piece of ribbon to the center. Trim the ends of the wire and ribbon. Wire or hot-glue the bow to the top of the Christmas wreath.
