Ed Sheeran has written a James Bond theme – despite not being asked
Ed Sheeran has revealed that he has written a theme for a forthcoming James Bond film – just in case 007 bosses call up to request one from him in the future.
While appearing on Ireland's The Late Late Show, Sheeran said: "With Bond, I've had a theme tune written for about three years, just in case."
He did, however, admit that he hasn't actually been asked to do so, before insisting: "But it's good, it's good."
When asked if he would reveal the title of the track, Sheeran played coy, worried that "someone might steal it."
Sheeran would potentially follow in the footsteps of fellow warblers Adele and Sam Smith, who were the last artists recruited to sing Bond themes.
In case Sheeran's methodological approach to music hasn't been confirmed enough already, he's also currently battling it out for this year's Christmas Number One – releasing two remixed versions of his track Perfect in order to hit the top spot.
After collaborating with Beyonce on the track, he last week released a third version featuring tenor Andrea Bocelli. In a canny or arguably cynical move, sales and streams of all three versions of the song count towards one single spot in the charts.
He has also collaborated with Eminem on the single River, another Christmas Number One competitor, meaning few of us will be able to escape Sheeran this festive season.
