Eddie Montgomery Shocks CMA Awards By Returning to Stage in Surprise Tribute to Troy Gentry
Before passing away in a fatal helicopter crash two months ago, Troy Gentry promised his 15-year-old daughter, Kaylee, that he would take her at her first award show, reports People. Tonight at the CMA Awards, the Montgomery Gentry singer's widow Angie Gentry fulfilled that promise.
The mother-daughter pair walked the red carpet with Angie, both looking absolutely stunning.
Later in the night, Dierks Bentley and Rascal Flatts gave an emotional tribute to Troy by performing the Montgomery Gentry hit "My Town." Halfway through the song Troy's partner Eddie Montgomery surprised the audience and joined in the incredible tribute. During the performance, the camera panned to Angie and Kaylee tearing up before the crowd rose for a standing ovation in response to the touching moment. It was easily one of the most touching moments of the night.
