A 17-year-old Australian teen who was recently dubbed Egg Boy — for cracking an egg on the head of a Right Wing senator who made anti-immigration remarks just hours after New Zealand’s mosque attack on Friday — is now further dedicating himself to the cause. He’s decided to take the money collected on a GoFundMe page that was set up to help with his legal costs and instead donate the funds to the families of the 50 shooting victims.

The teen, who has been identified only as Will, gained viral recognition when he cracked an egg on the head of Fraser Anning of Australia on Saturday. Supporters of Egg Boy and his act of retaliation quickly started raising money for any legal fees in connection to his arrest. “Money for EggBoi” was created shortly after the incident by an anonymous GoFundMe user who simply goes by Egg Boi. According to the page, it was made with the intent to raise money for the teen to pay off any legal fees, in addition to buying “more eggs.” But an addendum reveals a generous switch.

“The goal has been raised to $50,000 in homage to the 50 victims of the Christchurch terrorist attack,” the addendum reads. “EggBoi (Will) plans to send a majority of the money to the victims of the Christchurch terrorist attack. I will keep you all updated over the next few days.” (It can only be assumed that the addendum is referring to the victims’ families.)

Under the donation page’s updates tab, the creator shared screenshots of his conversation with Will to prove the original Egg Boy’s connection to and support of the crowdfunding effort.

“He is currently limited with what he can post as he and his family are following certain processes,” the creator wrote.

The page’s creator didn’t immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s request for comment. As of Monday afternoon, the page had surpassed its $50,000 goal with just over $53,000 raised.
