Eggstravaganza to return to Mayfield Village on April 6
Mar. 29—Mayfield Village Recreation Department announced that it will be hosting an Easter Trail Eggstravaganza on April 6.
The event, which is just for Mayfield Village residents, will feature games and activities along the trail with pictures with the Easter Bunny and hidden eggs to be collected at the end of the trail. It runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Grove.
Parks and Recreation Director Shane McAvinew said there will be a petting zoo and a magic show.
"People go down the trail and participate in the games, activities and stations; they are all unique," McAvinew said. "We build new ones each year (and) each station gives out candy if they win, and they move down the trail.
"We also have our amphitheater, a magician and petting zoo this year. And then the whole event ends at our playground where we have a traditional egg hunt for the kids.
The egg hunt will have 5,000 eggs for kids to find, but McAvinew said that kids won't be the only ones who will have fun. He said that the event was designed so that the parents had something to do as well.
"We tried to make games for kids and adults because we discovered a few years ago when we started doing it that the parents wanted to play too," he said. "So, we made some challenging ones for adults and some kids activities."
He said that there will be about six stations, but there might be more depending on volunteer availability. He said that he reuses some of the games for different events each year and just rebrands them.
"The games that work out, when people get excited, we bring them back," McAvinew said. "One that we will probably do this year is we have a bucket where we put plastic eggs in, and it's usually a dunk machine, parents go in and if kids hit the target, the eggs dunk on the parent."
