Last week, during the highly anticipated season premiere of Alaska: The Last Frontier, we saw gardening expert Eve Kilcher working her magic in the kitchen as she demonstrated proper home canning techniques. This week, it looks like there's going to be a role reversal after tragedy strikes the homestead.

In this exclusive clip of Sunday night's episode, Eve's husband, Eivin Kilcher, is shown at home with the kids.

"Eve's helping out with all the chores around the homestead that I would typically do, and so I'm helping out with the kids," Eivin explains. "It's a change."

The father of two is shown making muffins with his children as he recovers from a painful broken rib-and while it's an adorable scene, he's clearly out of his element. "Eve and I each have our own skill sets, you know, places where we feel utterly comfortable and confident," Eiven says. "It's frustrating to not be able to do any of the things I typically do every day."

Despite the shakeup in their usual routine, it seems to have helped the couple value each other's jobs more. Eve was thrilled when she came home for the day to her husband, kids, and fresh muffins, saying it was "like every wife's dream." Still, she admitted that taking on a new role wasn't easy.

"Through doing a lot of Eiven's chores, I really am appreciating how much work he does and how physical and exhausting it is," she says.

Eiven expressed a similar sentiment after his day spent at home with the children. "Taking care of two kids and everything else around the house...it's hard," he admitted.

Alaska: The Last Frontier airs on Discovery Channel on Sundays at 9/8c.
