Elle Fanning Debuts Bob Haircut in Vibrant Red Trench Coat With Sister Dakota Fanning at Netflix’s ‘Ripley’ Event
Elle Fanning got a new haircut for spring. The actress debuted her blond bob on Tuesday in New York City at Netflix’s Ripley NY Tastemaker event, where she showed support to her sister, Dakota Fanning.
Jenda Alcorn, their longtime hairstylist, cut several inches off Elle’s blond hair on Tuesday. “We did a thing! New look for @ellefanning. More on this later. I’m still recovering!!” Alcorn wrote on Instagram.

At the event, the sisters posed in contrasting looks. Elle wore a trench coat dress made of red satin and completed her look with a bag and ballet flats from The Row, and sheer black tights from Calzedonia.
Dakota kept it monochromatic, wearing a black dress with a blazer tied around her waist. For accessories, she added extra shine with diamond bracelets and a diamond ring from Cartier.
Dakota stars in Netflix’s upcoming series, which is based on Patricia Highsmith’s “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” and will be available for streaming on April 4.
Currently promoting the series on talk shows, Dakota wore a red satin dress from John Galliano’s fall 1999 collection, courtesy of vintage purveyor Shrimpton Couture, on Monday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Stylist Samantha McMillen dressed her for the occasion.
The red shade, embraced by both sisters in the same week, is currently trending in the fashion world. Valentino, Carolina Herrera, Bottega Venetta and Emilia Wickstead brought crimson pieces in their fall 2023 collection. During the 2024 awards season, Selena Gomez, Florence Pugh and Kylie Jenner are some of the stars who have brought the trend to the red carpets.
