Ellen Travolta Returning to 'General Hospital' After 27 Years

Ellen Travolta is making her way back to the soap opera world!

The actress and older sister of John Travolta is set to return to General Hospital to reprise her role as Gloria Cerullo, mother of Rena Sofer‘s Lois Cerullo, this holiday season.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Travolta will return for a guest stint on the ABC drama for Thanksgiving, stepping back into the role she played from 1994 to 1996.

The return is expertly timed, as Sofer's character recently made a comeback on the show after being away as well, to help her daughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) following her firing from her job.

The 84-year-old—who appeared in a small role as a diner waitress alongside her younger brother in iconic 1978-released film Grease—is best known for playing Louisa Arcola Delvecchio in Happy Days and its spinoff, Joanie Loves Chachi. She also starred as Lillian in CBS sitcom Charles in Charge for three years in the late '80s.

Ellen has continued to work in the industry over the past several decades, more recently appearing in 2018 movie Mistrust, as well as The Untold Story docuseries the following year.

Last year, she nabbed a role as Mary Louise in Hallmark's holiday rom-com Haul out the Holly alongside Lacey Chabert, Wes Brown, Melissa Peterman, and Stephen Tobolowsky.

"I was so thrilled to do it. When I got there, everybody included me. People were so kind and respectful, and they knew everything I’d ever done. They weren’t even born when I was doing television!" she previously told The Spokesman-Review of the experience.
