Elmwood Village ArtFest to return for 2nd year

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Elmwood Village Association is putting on its second annual ArtFest later this month, the group announced.

The Elmwood Village ArtFest will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25 in parks, lots and on sidewalks along Elmwood. All roads will remain open and accessible to the community during the festival.

Organizers envision a festival similar to last year’s, which will include the work of artists and craftspeople from across the region, music, dance, spoken word, a kids’ zone, food and drinks.

“We were thrilled at the response to last year’s new festival and look forward to growing this event every year within the community,” said James Cichocki, EVA executive director, in a release. “It is a great way to support local artists and performers as well as the small businesses in the Elmwood Village, and it just somehow feels like the last hurrah of summer.”

The event now in its second iteration was created in the absence of the Elmwood Village Festival of the Arts, which took place annually for 24 years before it was announced to be permanently canceled in March 2023.

“The mission of the EVA has always been to promote the local arts community and add vibrancy to the Elmwood Village, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to do so with this new ArtFest,” said Therese Deutschlander, President of the EVA’s Board of Directors and longtime small business owner in the Elmwood Village. “The Elmwood Village ArtFest supports local artists, musicians, performers, businesses and the community as a whole.”
