Emerging Musicians Star in Madewell’s Spring Campaign
Madewell has a summer playlist.
Titled “Summersounds by Madewell,” the denim brand’s Summer 2023 campaign stars emerging musical talent, including “Daisy Jones & The Six” actress and singer Suki Waterhouse.

The campaign also features Nigerian-born DJ TOBi, Los Angeles native singer-songwriter Dana Williams, musician and actor Malcolm McRae and singer and TikTok star Valentina Cy.
Madewell said the campaign brings together two important aspects of the brand, supporting up-and-coming artists and music. “We’re celebrating the hottest season of the year with an even hotter lineup of our favorite new musicians,” the brand stated.
The campaign was shot on the West and East Coast. The musicians wear key pieces from Madewell’s summer collection like its relaxed blazer, oversized poplin shirt, wide-leg jeans, baggy workwear pants and straight leg jeans.
On Madewell’s website visitors will find the images accompanied by videos and Q&A interviews about fashion and music.
McRae said his favorite way to style denim is with “cowboy boots, maybe a mismatching belt or an opened button-up over a tank.”
TOBi spoke to the allure of loose fits. “I try not to keep up with trends too much but lately, I’ve been digging the oversized and relaxed fit because it feels comfortable. I also like that it leaves something to be desired with the shape of human body. People can style themselves creatively without worry about their bodies being the focal point,” he said.
Madewell feted the campaign earlier this month with a concert-style event in New York City. The event featured performances by Waterhouse and Williams and a set by TOBi.
