Prada has officially unveiled its 2024 Re-Nylon campaign featuring ambassadors Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch while promoting a project for Sea Beyond, an educational program launched in 2019 to raise awareness of ocean pollution and preservation.

Actors and activists, Watson and Cumberbatch were photographed by Willy Vanderperre, who has also photographed for Christian Dior and Dior Homme. The Prada Re-Nylon collection “epitomizes a fundamental duality of Prada’s identity — innovation in spirit, responsibility in action,” according to a statement from the brand.

The collection will use regenerated nylon yarn, Econyl, made from recycled and purified plastics from the ocean, including fishing nets. Originally launched in 2019, the campaign will also use plastics from landfills and tactile fiber waste that can be recycled indefinitely without decreasing quality.

Prada’s virgin nylon production has been converted to regenerated nylon for the brand’s products, highlighting the major luxury house’s priority on sustainability. The Re-Nylon collection will feature prêt-à-porter and accessories for men and women, made entirely of recycled nylon through a depolymerization and re-polymerization process.

Prada has used nylon as a signature fabric for its designs since the late ’70s.

After decades of use, Prada has since shifted its spotlight to regenerated nylon in an effort to prioritize sustainability and elevate the recycled material among contemporary luxury brands.

One percent of the Re-Nylon collection proceeds from sales will go to Sea Beyond, which Prada Group and UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) promote.
