Hearties, there's a lot of romance on the horizon in Hope Valley.

In the final moments of When Calls the Heart season 8, Elizabeth (played by Erin Krakow) put the much-debated love triangle behind her and realized that Lucas (played by Chris McNally) is the one who calls her heart. This decision was two years in the making and understandably, a lot of Hearties were anticipating a different outcome, saying that Nathan (played by Kevin McGarry) was the obvious — and well, better — choice.

Some even went so far as to say that they're giving up on the show altogether (or so they say). And while Erin Krakow has steered clear of the controversy, she's now making a point to reassure fans that season 9 will be worth the watch — Team Lucas or not. In a recent interview with TVLine, the Hallmark Channel star spilled some exciting details about her character's budding romance. "We’ve seen the fire burn between these two for years, and this season … is no exception! Lucas and Elizabeth are finally getting to explore and enjoy their relationship," she told the outlet.

But, of course, their relationship isn't just about them. Over the years, we've caught glimpses of Lucas interacting with Elizabeth's son, Little Jack. According to Erin, these two will bond a little more in season 9. "We're also getting to see Lucas in a new light — as father figure to Little Jack, who absolutely adores him," she continued.

In fact, Hallmark Channel shared a sneak peek for season 9, where Lucas swings by Elizabeth's house to drop off a toy sailboat for Little Jack. Although it's a small gesture, it's especially heartwarming given that Lucas purposefully picked out the present with Jack's late father in mind.

Sure, adorable moments between Lucas and Little Jack may not be enough to win over diehard Team Nathan fans, but they'll definitely help soften the blow. In case that's not enough though, Erin urges fans to shift their thinking from the rivalry between two men to Elizabeth's well-deserved happiness. "Remember just how challenging her journey has been, how emotional it was for her to lose Jack. Try to reframe your support of one gentleman caller over the other into support for Elizabeth and her journey to find love again," she previously told Good Housekeeping.

Another important reminder: "This also isn't a situation where only one guy gets the girl and the other one leaves town." That's right — Hearties can rest easy knowing that Nathan will always be in the picture, one way or another.
