Whether posting an Instagram video of her latest trampoline workout or a review of her favorite lengthening mascara, Eva Longoria never shies away from sharing her latest finds with fans. While we can’t all be blessed with her incredible genes, we *can* get her beauty advice. Recently, the 47-year-old sat down with Prevention to offer even more insight into her top beauty and makeup tips so we can all glow like the star.

Serums are a must

For Longoria, it’s all about serums. “I’m a big serum person,” she says. If you’ve watched T.V. recently, you’ve likely seen Longoria’s gorgeous locks and glowing skin light up your screen during a commercial for L’Oreal Paris’ hyaluronic serum. “I think I taught the world how to say hyaluronic acid,” she jokes. As a spokesperson for the beauty brand, she really sings its praises. But what makes her love for the brand legit is perhaps the fact that she actually uses the products. In fact, she says she loves the entire Revitalift series.

Sunscreen is nonnegotiable

“First and foremost I’m a big sunblock user,” she says. “If you’re talking about skincare you have to use sunblock.” We, and dermatologists, couldn’t agree more. While the actress doesn’t give any specific recommendations, dermatologists have long sung the praises of La Roche Posay’s Anthelios Melt-In Sunscreen. “This is one of my favorite broad-spectrum, cosmetically elegant sunscreens for face and body,” says Shari Marchbein, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist at Downtown Dermatology in New York City previously told Prevention.

Finding the perfect mascara is key

Longoria says finding a mascara that’s dark enough to offset her dark brown eyes proves more difficult than you might think. Enter: Carbon Black Voluminous Mascara. “I like a dark black, I have really dark eyes so I need an equally dark mascara,” she says. “I love the brush, it’s the darkest black. It’s amazing.”

Don’t shy away from fake lashes

After decades working in the entertainment industry, the 47-year-old has learned a thing or two from professional makeup artists, and one piece of advice in particular really stuck with the star. “One thing that I learned in the industry is false lashes,” she says. “ I was just like ‘I wish I had their eyelashes’ and they were like ‘you can!’ That was a big red carpet trick that I’d never really known.” she says.

Taking care of your skin goes a long way

“Most of the tricks of the trade that I‘ve learned is about taking care of your skin. Because you can’t have good makeup on top of bad skin.” She says the right serums and facials can really get your skin on the right track.

“A lot of the time people think facials are so relaxing, but they’re not. They’re painful, they sting...you could do a peel, you could do extractions. I hate going to get a facial because it’s like tugging and pulling and peeling and things but it’s necessary.”

Treat your eyes well

“When I was in my early 40s, I started having difficulty seeing up close,” she says. After being diagnosed with presbyopia (age-related blurry near vision) she was prescribed VUITY, the first and only FDA-approved prescription eye drop to treat age-related blurry near vision. “I use VUITY every day, which has let me give my reading glasses some time off.” Though it doesn’t replace reading glasses, the drops do help treat the condition. Now, she’s partnered with Allergan, an Abbvie Company, to promote the drops. The most common side effects are eye redness and headache. For full side effect information, visit Vuity.com. (As always, it’s important to schedule an appointment with your eye doctor to see if Vuity is appropriate for your needs.)
