Even Millionaires Like Steph Curry Love Everlane

Basketball players are perhaps the most boastful breed in professional sports: they have tremendous tempers, diva-like tendencies, and arguably, the most flamboyant style of all athletes (although NFL quarterback Cam Newton’s affinity for fur keychains gives the ballers a run for their money). Post-game press conferences aren’t just a forum for reflection, they’re a stage to set trends. (Thank you, Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook for giving the world the glasses without lenses look.) Now with social media, these ballers can put their other passion — fashion — on display. And while their next-level salaries typically mean they’re buying the latest Lamborghini, heaviest “ice,” or all of Louis Vuitton’s latest Paris collection, there’s always an exception.
Golden State Warriors’ very well liked MVP Steph Curry is seemingly changing the industry norm. He’s polite, very soft spoken, and has tremendous style that’s actually affordable. Not only is he an ambassador for mall brand Express, which he regularly wears, he’s now introducing items from fashion’s new favorite label, Everlane, into his look.
Curry was photographed wearing the label’s chunky wool knit beanie, cashmere hoodie, overcoat, and snap backpack! OK, he was also photographed next to his $200,000 Porsche, but let’s overlook that detail. With the most expensive item being his overcoat for $295, the San Francisco-based label is bringing you sleek style at a reasonable cost on the hottest athlete of the moment.
And that’s not all. The company, only 5 years old, conscientiously sources material from factories around the world that meet strict standards. And with a catchy business practice that the company refers to as “radically transparent,” they disclose the origin of all products and its cost structure. In other words, they provide the customer with a peace of mind that they’re not getting gipped when splurging on cashmere.

Everlane took to Instagram in utter surprise by Curry’s photo, sharing in the caption, “didn’t expect this to happen today!” The retailer told Yahoo Style that Curry’s actually a big fan of Everlane (he wore the backpack when getting off the plane after the team’s big win last year!). Since then, the athlete’s stylist has been working closely with the brand to incorporate items into his wardrobe. As a local brand, it’s even more meaningful that the Bay Area’s biggest star is supporting them.
