Every 'It Ends With Us' Movie Set Photo That Has Fans So Very Confused
For a solid eight months or so, Blake Lively was busy filming the adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling (and somewhat controversial) novel It Ends With Us with Justin Baldoni, and the set photos are...how do we say this? A curious journey for one's eyeballs.
Fans of the book will tell you that the book doesn't exactly allude to Blake's character Lily's rather eclectic wardrobe—so these interesting choices laid out before you are leaving them confused, to say the absolute least. Colleen herself responded to the backlash saying, "I don't remember describing outfits at all. I don't care what they have on. In my head, it's about the conversation they're having and the story. It's the same way in the movie. You've seen a couple of outfits that are completely out of context. I'm not worried about it."
Well, the time has come to check out every single photo from set in an attempt to decipher what these fashion choices might mean for the upcoming film. And who knows? Maybe this will all make sense when the movie hits theaters. (Because we will be seeing it!)
Full disclosure, this is a photo of what you'll look like by the time you're done reading this article. Unless, of course, you love patchwork clothing. (Hey, life would be boring if we all had the same style!)
But for now, here we are entering this gallery looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, hopeful, and under the impression that surely things will be okay! On that note...
Let's start things out with one of the more...interesting... outfits photographed: Blake wearing denim-on-denim-on...wait, what's that underneath there?
Patchwork is certainly a unique choice, but maybe the full zoom-out will make more sense!
Update: I'm not sure it's making sense, BUT I must admit the pop of color with the boots is quite nice.
"Oh look," you naively say, staring at this cute kissing pic, "finally, an outfit I can get behind!"
And great news: This one is, indeed, cute! Like, would Serena van der Woodsen buy it? Well, I'm confident she'd wear the boots at the very least. And a win is a win.
That said, we have some questions, starting with: IN WHAT YEAR DOES THIS MOVIE TAKE PLACE?
Anyway, according to the internet's amateur lip readers, she's saying, "Things are looking up...maybe the rest of these outfits will slay."
On second thought...
Turns out this movie is a love story between a suede coat, a chunky statement ring, and an oversized plaid jacket. Separately, I don't mind them. Together, I have questions.
But maybe the bottom of Lily's outfit will be better and the world will make sense again!
Hmmm. No such luck, but there's still a chance this scene involves her trudging through some kind of muddy pond. Remaining hopeful!
Me trying to emotionally tell myself it's all going to be okay.
(Honestly? This maxi-dress/button-up combo is looking better and better the more I look at it.)
And like...this shacket is looking...cozy? I said what I said!
AND I am a fan of the earring situation!
Okay, leather jacket, statement pants, a stiletto boot? Perhaps this outfit is the one, she said nervously.
At second glance, I reserve the right to revoke the previous statement. But I legitimately can't wait to see this scene and have it all make sense!
All of that said, she is working this ~Golden Hour~ lighting.
Quick Break
Let's take a moment to appreciate that this is what Blake Lively chooses to wear in real life.
Okay, back to It Ends With Us. Before you spiral over this outfit...
...which we can all agree is pure (but kinda cozy?) chaos...
Please remember that this outfit exists.
We're revisiting it, because quick question: WHAT ARE ALL THE BAGS FOR? We can't wait to find out!
Actually, the more I stare at these red boots, the more afraid I am I might want them. Thank you for coming on this journey with me!
Circling back here too and taking back what I said earlier—this one's now firmly a win, simply because there is no patchwork involved.
Surely there's an explanation for all of this patchwork?
Oh! I like the shoes...?
Anyway, brb, going to reread my copy of It Ends With Us, because there must be some sort of reference to patchwork in there.
Moving on...have you ever wondered what it would be like if you mixed three different camouflage patterns?
Wonder no more! We even added a bonus shiny red fabric, you know, for visual interest.
Oh, and if you're wondering what Justin Baldoni is wearing in this scene, it's this.
Honestly, not *not* into what he has going on here.
Where is Blake in this photo? Can't see her!
In case you were respectfully wondering what the front of Justin's 'fit is up to.
Anyway, cute makeout incoming!
And another!
Mostly those last two pics were to emotionally prepare you for Lily's iPhone purse. I can't fault the girl for her commitment to hands-free living tbh.
Welp. That's all. See you in the theaters. All jokes aside, truly, we can't wait!
