Every Movie, Show and Event Impacted by the SAG-AFTRA Actors' Strike (So Far)

The SAG-AFTRA actors' strike means the stars, background actors and basically everyone else onscreen in your favorite movies and TV shows have walked off of their sets—so you can expect plenty of production delays and postponed releases.

It doesn't end there.

Actors who are members of the striking SAG-AFTRA union are also not allowed to promote their projects on TV or participate in voice acting (so animated series are impacted). What's more, striking actors are likely to not do red carpet or panel appearances, making upcoming film festivals, awards shows (especially the upcoming 2023 Emmys) and fan conventions much less star-studded than ever before.

In short: We really hope you like reality TV and the 24-hour news cycle, because that's about all you'll get until this is over.

Events impacted by the actors strike

San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con, set for the third week of July, saw many scheduled panels, autograph signings and events canceled, including a reunion of the original That '70s Show cast, a Good Omens panel and a Sesame Street Muppets performance, according to ABC News. The writers' strike meant many hallmarks of the convention, including Marvel Studios, were already sitting it out.

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)

The Toronto International Film Festival, set for September, may well have far fewer stars in attendance. Actors in SAG-AFTRA aren't permitted to promote projects at film festivals, so unless an agreement is reached before TIFF begins, the stars in movies featured there won't be able to attend.
