There's a first time for everything. Although it seems like many longtime working royals-Prince Charles, say-have always been at the annual Trooping the Colour parade, waving dutifully from the Buckingham Palace balcony, each royal family member still made a debut appearance at the event. Below, what those first times have looked like, from Prince Charles's first carriage ride in 1951 to Meghan Markle's first balcony wave in 2018.
Meghan Markle
Meghan first attended the parade in 2018-just months after marrying Prince Harry and becoming an official working royal.
Princess Charlotte
Princess Charlotte made her balcony debut on June 11, 2016, after celebrating her first birthday in May of that year.
Prince George
In June 2014, Prince George was still a month shy of his first birthday, and the family decided to wait until 2015 to bring him to Trooping the Colour.
Kate Middleton
After saying "I do" to Prince William in April 2011, Kate first attended the parade that June.
