After it was announced earlier today that she’d be stepping into her brother-in-law Prince Harry’s shoes (or should that be boots?), Kate Middleton even went so far as to share a rare personal message about her new role as patron of the Rugby Football League and Rugby Football Union on social media.

Now, a fun video (and a whole host of photos) has been shared too, showing the Duchess of Cambridge getting stuck into a game of rugby herself. Well, she was never one to do things by halves! Right?

Over on Instagram, a montage of clip was shared by the Duke and Duchess’ official Instagram account, showing Kate chatting to players, passing the ball and being lifted up during a training session at Twickenham Stadium (the English home of rugby, dontcha know).

The post was captioned: “Home of @englandrugby! Fantastic to meet the players, staff and referees representing the sport at the highest level. Even put the ?? on to get a taste of how the teams train. Wishing both teams the best of luck in their upcoming tournaments! ????????????????”

Naturally, as is the case whenever Kate shows off her athletic prowess (see: those pictures of her playing tennis with none other than world champion Emma Raducanu), royal fans were quick to hop into the comments and praise the future queen consort for her willingness and talents.

“I love how Catherine mucks in! She’s such a good sport! ????,” wrote one fan, while another chimed in with, “Fantastic, I loved seeing the Duchess participating in the training ????.”

A third added into the mix how relaxed and happy Kate tends to look whilst doing anything sports-related. “This is a great post. It’s always fun to see the Royals in this type of setting. Catherine always looks so happy when doing something with sports! ??????”

Last—but certainly not least—another Cambridge fan wrote, “Congratulations on your new patronages and it was lovely seeing HRH today...success to the team in their upcoming tournament ??? Hope to see you along side the Duke cheering your different teams up ?????? it will be so much fun to watch . Team Duchess or Team Duke?????? ”

Should the montage video of Kate playing rugby not be enough—fear not! There are also plenty of brilliant snaps from the day of training to enjoy too:

Sorry, but how much of a laugh does this one look as well? Kate is utterly in her element here and looks so at ease (we love to see it):

Ready for another? Coming right up! Here’s one of the Duchess booting the ball as well (and clearly concentrating pretty hard):

Speaking about the Duchess’s visit, England women’s rugby ace Sarah Hunter said having Kate as the new patron sends “a really powerful movement and message” for the women’s game.

She added, “It is amazing to have Her Royal Highness as our patron, to have an iconic woman like the Duchess of Cambridge advocating for the sport and encouraging more young people to come through, is so good for the game. She was very interested and we chatted about grass roots rugby.”

“It’s a great feeling that she’s part of our rugby family. That she was so keen to get stuck in there, scrummaging, says a lot. She has natural ability and coordination and even scored a try at Twickenham!”

Reckon we’ll be seeing her on the pitch again soon?
