Will Derek Hough return as a pro on Dancing with the Stars?
It doesn't seem likely! Back in March, Derek Hough chatted with TV Line about his future on Dancing with the Stars. And while we're sure we'll see more of Derek in the ballroom, he will be behind the judges' table rather than paired with a contestant. Here's what he told the publication about his future:
“My favorite part of that whole process is seeing that ‘a-ha’ moment in their eyes when they say, ‘I can do this!’” he said. “[Doing Step Into…] gave me that feeling again where I was showing somebody something and they felt, ‘We did it.’
“I don’t know,” he continued, when asked if he would return as a pro. “I like having the best of both worlds where I get to be a part of the show as a judge and do performances but also have time that allows me the freedom to do other projects.”

What happened to Selma Blair on Dancing with the Stars?
On October 17, Selma Blair shocked the DWTS world when she announced she would be withdrawing from the show. Her leaving was for medical reasons, as the physical intensity of the competition had taken a toll on her body, which had already been in a vulnerable state due to her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.
“As you know, I've been monitored and in touch with my doctors this whole process,” Selma told partner Sasha Farber at the start of a rehearsal in the clip that announced her departure. “I had these MRI's and it all adds up to I can't, I can't, I can't go on with the competition. I pushed as far as I could. I'm so sorry Sasha.” The pair was able to perform one last song on their way out of the competition.
