When does Ginny & Georgia season 2 come out?
It’s official! Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia debuts on January 5, 2023. Netflix announced the exciting news on Instagram, sharing a sneak peek into the sophomore season.
"Welcome back peaches," the streamer wrote under a carousel of photos. "season 2 of GINNY & GEORGIA is coming JANUARY 5!!"
Back in October, series lead Brianne Howey, a.k.a Georgia, confirmed to E! News that season 2 is coming sooner rather than later. “Soon, it's coming!” she shared. “I swear, it's coming!” She echoed showrunner Debra J. Fisher’s reasoning for the delay, explaining that the show needs to be translated into 180 languages.“That takes about four months,” she said. “So it’s actually not the show itself. The show is done.” We can’t wait!
What will Ginny & Georgia season 2 be about?
If you thought season 1 had some big reveals, then prepare yourself for the wild ride that season 2 will be. While talking to Oprah Daily, Lampert said that we’re just getting to know the citizens of Wellsbury. “Season 1 really did feel like a season 1. We just started uncovering some of the layers for all characters, across the board, that we want to dive into. Deb and I are hoping we get the chance,” she said.
ICYMI, so much happened in the season 1 finale — Georgia was seemingly able to get away with the murder of her ex-husband, after using fireworks to get rid of his ashes once and for all. But as we’ve seen, Cardova isn’t giving up just yet.
Meanwhile, Ginny took Marcus’ bike to run away from home and Austin is with her. After the big blowup at school where MANG and the rest of the group found out that Ginny had been cheating on Hunter with Marcus, it seems like that friend group might not get back together, despite everything they’ve been through. Ginny told Marcus that things were fine between them, even though he said that getting together was a mistake. And Marcus and Max got into the biggest fight after everything that happened at school. So will Georgia or Marcus go looking for Ginny? And did she go to her dad’s? Or somewhere else?
“For season 2, the stakes are much higher now — obviously — than we left off with season 1,” Antonia Gentry, who plays Ginny, told Seventeen. “So, I think fans will be in for a lot of wonderful tension, a lot of building up to climax, and a couple of interesting characters will be revealed.”
Who will be coming back for season 2?
We’ll of course see Ginny and Georgia again, played by Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey, respectively. Diesel La Torraca, who portrays Ginny’s little brother, Austin, will also return to the series for season 2.
Since Ginny and Austin fled Wellsbury in the season 1 finale, there’s a big question on who else might come back in the sophomore season. But according to IMDb, Felix Mallard (Marcus), Sara Waisglass (Max), Raymond Ablack (Joe), Scott Porter (Paul), Mason Temple (Hunter), Jennifer Robertson (Ellen), and Chelsea Clark (Norah), are all set to appear. Nathan Mitchell, who plays Ginny’s father, Zion, also seems to return for a few episodes.
Is there anyone new joining the cast?
Per Deadline, Aaron Ashmore — who’s previously starred as a series regular on Netflix’s Locke & Key — has joined the Ginny & Georgia cast for season 2. He plays Austin’s biological father, Gil Timmins, who Georgia has not seen since he was charged with embezzlement and sent to prison.
Has Ginny & Georgia season 2 finished filming?
Good news, G&G hive — season 2 has officially finished filming. On September 19, 2022, showrunner Debra J. Fisher posted a TikTok and shared some exciting news about the upcoming season.
“The number one question I get asked as the showrunner of Ginny & Georgia is, ‘Where’s season 2?’,” she said, before elaborating on all the post-production work that needs to be done before the season officially hits Netflix.
“Here’s what I know and what I can tell you: we just wrapped. So what does that mean? It will take Netflix 14 weeks to dub Ginny & Georgia into all the non-English speaking languages,” Debra explained. “Without getting an official word from Netflix, that takes us to the end of the year.”
In an exclusive interview with Seventeen in November 2021, Antonia Gentry revealed that filming for season 2 was set to pick back up soon. “I can’t say a lot about [season 2] right now, but I can’t wait for us to go back filming, which is very, very soon,” she said. “I’m just really ready. I miss all my castmates.”
