Everything to know about Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk's secretive relationship
Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk are consciously coupling. According to multiple reports, the pair are engaged, with Entertainment Tonight claiming the producer secretly popped the question a year ago.
Paltrow tends to keep her relationships close to her chest. Even when she wed Chris Martin in 2003, it was weeks before word got out that they had wed in a private ceremony. Even throughout their 11-year marriage, the couple rarely posed together on red carpets and shied away from ever revealing too much about their marriage.
So it comes as no surprise that Paltrow has acted similarly with Falchuk. However, there are a few things that are known about their relationship:
They met on Glee: Falchuk is a writer, producer, and director who co-created Glee (and American Horror story) with Ryan Murphy. The pair met in 2010 when Paltrow first guest-starred on the show and she ended up making five appearances throughout the years.
They started dating in 2014: When Paltrow and Falchuk were first pictured out together months after her split from Martin, they maintained that they were longtime friends. But after being spotted around town on what appeared to be dates — and, eventually, a romantic getaway in Utah— it was clear there was something more.
But went public at Robert Downey Jr.’s birthday: After quietly dating, they made their debut at her Iron Man co-star’s 50th birthday bash in April 2015. Falchuk was spotted entering the soiree with his hand on Paltrow’s back as they mingled with stars like Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux, Orlando Bloom, and Gwen Stefani. Not a bad crowd for a coming out party!
Both know what it’s like getting divorced: Falchuk ended a 10-year marriage in March 2013. He shares two children, Brody and Isabella, with ex-wife Suzanne. Paltrow and Martin revealed their separation in March 2014 — although she has acknowledged they were separated for a year prior to the announcement — and are parents to daughter Apple, 13, and son Moses, 11. When Falchuck brought his daughter as his date to last year’s Emmys, Gwyneth left a “heart” emoji and he regularly likes photos she posts of her kids as well.

Paltrow has acknowledged it can be a challenging situation to date when children are involved. “You have to move forward. If you are dating somebody who has children and you have children, it is very delicate,” she told You magazine.
Gwyneth’s in a good place: During an appearance on Girlboss Radio Podcast in August, Paltrow claimed she messed up relationships in the past, but is in a better place now that she’s with Falchuk. “I’m actually a pretty good friend, and a good sister and a daughter and a mother, but I’m at my potentially most vulnerable and f***ed up in the romantic slice of the pie,” she said before later acknowledging her current relationship. “It’s taken me a lot of, a lot of work to get to the place where I have a good romantic relationship.”
There were signs they were secretly engaged: Aside from Paltrow’s unassuming engagement ring, there were other signs these two were headed to the altar. When asked by You last year about remarrying, it certainly sounded like it was on the table. “Well, what I will say is that life has some incredible surprises and you never know what is going to happen and the people you are going to meet… I think marriage is a beautiful and noble institution. And I haven’t gone off it,” she revealed. “‘My parents had their huge ups and downs, but they had a successful relationship; they adored each other. I absolutely believe in marriage and I wouldn’t rule it out… but I’m not rushing into it.”
Most importantly? They love each other: If you follow either Paltrow or Falchuk on social media then you know these two are pretty much #couplegoals. The writer constantly praises his “girl” on Instagram with lovey-dovey posts.

As for Paltrow, she might not get as gushy, but he does make an appearance on her social media, which is a big deal for her.
