Everything You Need to Know About Jennifer Lopez's Drama-Filled Divorces
Jennifer Lopez is no stranger to publicized breakups. She recently split from her ex-fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, after cheating rumors began circulating. The former power couple was planning their wedding before their dramatic split. Multiple outlets reported that their engagement was off, but they initially denied the reports.
Ultimately it turned out to be true and they ~finally~ released a statement:
“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” the exes said in a statement to the Today show. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
A-Rod would have been J.Lo's fourth husband. Her three marriages have happened within a 17-year period. So, what went wrong with her past relationships? Well, we're glad you asked...
Ojani Noa
First, let's travel back in time to J.Lo's first hubby. She was still an up-and-coming singer when she married Ojani Noa. Their marriage lasted a month short of a year and they divorced in January 1998.
But, the drama came post-split. In August 2007, a court-appointed arbitrator issued a permanent injunction that forbids him from “criticizing, denigrating, casting in a negative light or otherwise disparaging” Jennifer. This was a result of him trying to publish a book about their marriage. Shady, much?
Cris Judd
Next up, we have Mr. Cris Judd. Ever heard of him? Us neither. Jennifer met him on the set of her "Love Don't Cost a Thing" music video, which he directed. He was also a dancer and choreographer at the time. Their marriage lasted shorter than her first. They split in 2002 after nine months together and their divorce was finalized the following year. Allegedly, stress from the paparazzi drove them apart.
"You know it's very tough," Cris told Us Weekly in 2014."Your privacy is breached. You're no longer a normal person. [Our wedding] was a circus. I think several people got arrested trying to climb up a mountain… trying to sneak in. We actually rented the airspace."
Although he claimed that "it had no bearing on the outcome of their relationship. He added, "Unfortunately, it just didn't work out."
Marc Anthony
And that brings us to Marc Anthony, J.Lo's longest marriage to date. She and Marc tied the knot in June 2004 and share 13-year-old twins, Maximillian and Emmy. They announced their split in 2011.
"When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness," she admitted during an interview with W in April 2016. "It wasn’t the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment, and anger. But Marc is the father of my children, and that’s never going away. So I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do."
Now that A-Rod's out of the picture, I wonder who will be the fourth Mr. Jennifer Lopez.
