Season 6 of The Rookie will see the ABC police drama celebrate its milestone 100^th episode, which wrapped up filming on Dec. 6, 2023. The exact airdate of the landmark episode is as yet unknown, but it should be a special one as the show creator/executive producer Alexi Hawley posted:

“That’s a wrap on Episode 100. The most fun I’ve ever had on set making, quite possibly, the best Rookie episode ever. Can’t wait for everyone to see it in the New Year.”

When will season 6 of The Rookie premiere?

The Rookie will return for its season 6 premiere on Feb. 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

On its official Instagram site, the show posted: “Back in action to serve and protect. A new season of #TheRookie premieres Tuesday, Feb 20 on ABC and streams on Hulu.”

Who will be joining the cast for season 6 of The Rookie?

There is the possibility that Dave Kumar will be joining the cast, but it’s unclear if it’s a one-episode role, recurring, or a series regular. Stan Kirsch Studios posted on Instagram: "Congrats to @davekumar_ on booking his role in the upcoming season of #ABC’s #TheRookie.” As yet, ABC has made no announcement.

What happened in the Season 5 finale of The Rookie?

Season 5 of The Rookie finished with a cliffhanger where the Mid-Wilshire police station was under attack by an unknown enemy.

The episode opens with Aaron Thorsen, who was out with Celina Juarez playing Dungeons and Dragons, being shot in the back when the two hear a noise in an alley on their way to their car and go to investigate. Celina also gets knocked out. They are both rushed to the hospital, where Thorsen undergoes surgery and is in a coma, but as the episode wrapped up, there was a Code Blue from his room, and it wasn’t clear if he would live or die.

On a happier note, Angela and Wesley welcomed their baby girl.

There is also an attack at the home of Nolan and Bailey, who manage to fight off the masked assailant. But his prints come back identifying him as a high-paid mercenary.

Nyla and James are also set upon at their home. Nyla spots the intruder, who manages to grab baby Leah. But he leaves the baby unharmed outside in the bushes with Nyla in pursuit.

Then there is an even bigger attack on Lucy and Tim by a full platoon of the mask-wearing assailants. Nolan, Nyla and more cops from Mid-Wilshire congregate to fight them off.

When the attack wrapped up, it was unclear to the L.A.P.D. who would have the necessary money to pay for a band of mercenaries.

Then a mystery villain (Kristian Bruun) was seen driving away and gleefully saying, "And by the time they realize the damage we've done, we'll be long gone."

Are there any spoilers for Season 6 of The Rookie?

As season 5 ended with the aforementioned cliffhanger, it is most likely that season 6 will pick up where it left off with doctors trying to revive Aaron Thorsen, who coded at the end of the season. So, the first episode back should reveal whether he lives or dies.

Of course, season 6 will also continue the story of the mystery villain who appeared in The Rookie’s season five finale as the mastermind behind the attack on Mid-Wilshire.
