Everything to Know About 'You' Season 5
"You" will end with its upcoming fifth season. Here's what we know about Joe's last brutal hurrah.
You will end with its upcoming fifth season, Netflix announced on March 24, 2023—and some changes will be coming to the beloved dark dramedy.
Showrunner Sera Gamble announced she'd step down ahead of You Season 5, saying in a statement, "As I step back from day-to-day showrunning to focus on new projects, I’m immensely grateful to co-creator and all-around genius Greg Berlanti, Caroline Kepnes, my friends at Berlanti Productions and Alloy Entertainment, and our steadfast partners at Warner Bros and Netflix."

"Making the show alongside our writers, producers, directors, cast and crew has been an honor and ridiculously fun. And I feel lucky to have worked with an artist as gifted and thoughtful as Penn Badgley," Gamble continued. "I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch. I’m excited to watch and support the YOU team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion."
Here's everything we know so far about You Season 5 and what to expect from the last chapter of Joe Goldberg's terrifying story, but beware of potential spoilers for You Season 4 ahead!
When does You Season 5 come out?
No release date has yet been announced for You Season 5. It's also unclear if, like Season 4, the fifth season of You will be divided into two parts.

Who is in the You Season 5 cast?
The final cast of You Season 5 isn't yet known, but here's who we can expect to see.
Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg
Of course, Penn Badgley will return as the lead character he reviles so much, serial killer Joe Goldberg. While Season 4 saw Joe attempt to start a new life in London as mild-mannered professor Jonathan Moore, old habits—and plenty of rich socialites—proved to die very hard.
Charlotte Richie as Kate
Charlotte Richie is likely to reprise her role of Kate, Joe's wealthy love interest who travels back across the pond with him in the finale.
Amy-Leigh Hickman as Nadia Farran
Currently in prison after Joe framed her for his murders of Rhys Montrose and Edward, it's unlikely that Nadia Farran (Amy-Leigh Hickman) will stay quiet after discovering that her professor was the Eat the Rich killer all along.
“If she’s done as much as she did in Season 4, she’s probably not going to shut up for too long, so I definitely think she still has some fight in her,” Hickman told TV Line. “You’ve seen that in her a lot, especially in the way that she helps Marienne, so I think she would try her luck getting out and taking Joe down again. I wouldn’t put it past her.”
Ed Speleers as Rhys Montrose
Ed Speleers is likely to reprise the role of Rhys Montrose, but not of the actual author—rather, the Rhys that lives purely in Joe Goldberg's head.
Tati Gabrielle as Marienne
Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) thankfully survived You Season 4 thanks to Nadia. She remains a fixation for Joe, even if only in his mind post-escape, so it's likely she'll pop up again, even if just in flashback form.
Elizabeth Lail as Guinevere Beck
Elizabeth Lail may return in a flashback or hallucination as Beck.
Victoria Pedretti as Love Quinn
Like Lail, Victoria Pedretti may return in a hallucination or flashback. Both former female leads returned in Season 4 in that capacity.
John Stamos as Dr. Nicky
While we haven't seen John Stamos' shady shrink Dr. Nicky since he was imprisoned after Joe framed him for murder, we may expect to see him again in Season 5 as the series ties up loose ends.

Jenna Ortega as Ellie
Though Jenna Ortega has seen her star seriously rise, she may still make an appearance as Ellie, who Joe attempted to protect (by murdering her groomer Henderson, an allegedly art-imitating-life Chris D'Elia).
Ortega previously revealed she was set to appear in Season 4, but scheduling conflicts with her other projects (including Wednesday) but a damper on those plans.

Other characters who may appear in hallucinations include Tom Lockwood (Greg Kinnear), Peach Salinger (Shay Mitchell) and basically everyone else he's murdered—which is, well, a lot of people.
