EXCLUSIVE: Tallulah Willis Collaborates With Hollywood Go-to Bedding Brand Kumi Kookoon

MILAN — Tallulah Willis may have found her stride in the world of home. On Wednesday, the 30-year-old creative and entrepreneur unveiled a capsule bedding collection with luxurious silk brand Kumi Kookoon. Named Kumi Koobuu, the six-piece collection in jewel tones is a pop spin on the sultry classics for which the Los Angeles label is known.

“Interior design has become a passion of mine and a big part of my creative process, second only to fashion. I’ve spent the last few years honing my eye and focusing on brands and pieces that bring me joy,” Willis told WWD, adding that she was introduced to the brand by her parents, actors Demi Moore and Bruce Willis.

Kumi Kookoon said Willis worked closely with its team to develop four new colors like heller pink, lodi green, tangerine and blood orange. The centerpiece of the line is its silk-filled throws and is accompanied by contrast-stitched boudoir pillows in five different shades, as well as a lavish take on a French-pleated slipper, a fitted flat sheet, duvet cover, sleep mask and hair tie for a complete silk sleep set.

Kumi Kookoon also said other fans of the brand include Gwyneth Paltrow, Leighton Meester, Scarlett Johansson, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jamie Lee Curtis and Blake Lively. Known for its hypoallergenic coverings that fight mold and is easy on hair, Kumi Kookoon crafts all its products with a small group of female artisans in China who employ a traditional method that has been passed down through generations.

“I’m a huge fan of Kumi Kookoon and have been since I was a kid. It’s an all-female company, crafted by local female artisans who hand-dye each piece of silk in China,” Willis said. “It’s really luxurious, there’s nothing else like it. This collaboration has been years in the making and I cannot wait to show the world how delicious it is!”

Over the years, the youngest child of the amicably divorced couple’s three daughters has spoken openly about the downsides of growing up in the public eye and the impact that has had on her mental health.

This isn’t Willis’ first venture into the world of design. In 2020, she launched the Wyllis clothing label, which was interwoven with a mental health component. Hang tags were printed with information about the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and the National Alliance on Mental Illness Helpline.

Kumi Kookoon was founded by Jennifer Chang, who formerly worked for Deloitte & Touche, in Los Angeles in 2003. Products were initially available online as well as in ABC Home & Carpet stores and later the company opened its first store on the mainland Chinese in the port city of Dalian in 2012. At the time, Chang told WWD that the company began to notice demand from Chinese who were buying the brand’s products while traveling in the U.S. and making special orders from the Mainland.

Willis’ Kumi Koobuu line for Kumi Kookoon is currently available online and is priced at a range between $193 for silk pillow cases to $1,378 for silk-filled throws.
